National SMART (Science And Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) Grant

If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient and enrolled in a degree program in one of the following academic fields, your student record will be evaluated for one SMART grant in your junior year and one SMART grant for your senior year of up to $4,000.

  • computer science
  • critical foreign language
  • engineering
  • life science
  • mathematics
  • physical science
  • technology

In addition, you must meet these eligibility criteria:

  • be a U. S. citizen
  • be enrolled full time in a degree program
  • have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher each term
  • demonstrate financial need
  • enroll in at least one class that meets the specific requirements of your major

The annual award amount may be reduced by the U. S. Department of Education, if sufficient funds are not available for all eligible students in an award year.
