Exit interviews
Exit interviews, usually conducted on campus by Student Financial Collections (SFC), are required
of all borrowers from federal and University loan programs. At the exit interview,
you receive information regarding the rights and responsibilities of a borrower
and a lender/servicer. You will also learn about repayment, deferment, and cancellation
of your loans. For University-based loans, repayment terms including length,
interest rate, outstanding balance, and payment amounts are reviewed.
Federal regulations and University policy require SFC to maintain documentation
that you attended an exit interview. For University-based loans, you will be
required to complete and sign various forms. If you do not complete the paperwork,
a hold
will be placed on your record.
If you borrowed from the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, you must
go online to www.dlservicer.ed.gov to complete
an exit interview. SFC staff provide general information on the Federal Direct
subsidized and unsubsidized loans in their exit interviews, though the SFC office
does not handle exit interviews for that loan program.
