Steps to Success for non-degree students

You are a non-degree student if you are not officially admitted into a University of Minnesota degree program for the semester(s) that you are enrolled in classes. Non-degree status includes those students who are admitted for a future semester and students who are degree-seeking at another institution, but taking classes at the University of Minnesota.

Step 1: Register

Step 2: Initiate your University student Internet / email account

  • Your account gives you access to many online services
  • It is required for official University communication
  • Details and support

Step 3: Verify or change your registration

Step 4: Update your Personal Information

Step 5: Tuition and Billing

Step 6: Financial Aid options for non-degree students

Step 7: Get a UCard, the official student identification card.
