ASR coverage during staff event
On Tuesday, November 13, the Academic Support Resources located in Williamson Hall and One Stop Student Services Center located in Fraser Hall, will have limited service from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. due to a staff function. The St. Paul and West Bank One Stop centers will remain open.
The classroom support hotline will be fully staffed during this time and will be available to assist should any classroom needs arise.
Student veterans appreciation event November 14
Save the date for the University of Minnesota Student
Veterans Appreciation Day event November 14, 2007. Lunch will be served
in the Northrop atrium at 11:30 a.m. (while supplies last), and a
recognition event will follow on the Northrop mall at 12:15 p.m. The
event will feature remarks by Governor Tim Pawlenty, President Robert
Bruininks, and Regent Dean
Johnson; an Air Force F16 flyover; the University marking band, and
more. Please join us to recognize the contributions of student veterans
at the University of Minnesota. Earlier deadlines for fall 2008-spring 2009 class schedule
information
Electronic Course Scheduling for fall 2008 and spring
2009 will have earlier submission deadlines than previous years. Fall
2008 information is due December 19, 2007 and spring 2009 information
will be due on February 15, 2008. The changes will allow the Scheduling
unit more time to make room assignments prior to the start of
registration.Several factors influenced this change:
1) Increasing demand for central rooms. While demand (number of class sections offered) has increased, the room inventory (number of central classrooms) has decreased due to the removal of poor quality rooms from the scheduling pool or rooms going offline during construction projects.
2) Additional time is required to review non-standard class sections. Undergraduate courses meeting at non-standard times must be approved by the associate dean of the appropriate college. These courses are scheduled on a space available basis. If the course has not been approved, Scheduling will work with the department to schedule the course at a standard time.
3) Too many class sections are offered at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and/or Thursday. In order to fit everyone into classrooms, class sections need to be spread across the day and week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Nancy Peterson in the Office of Classroom Management at n-pete@umn.edu.
